10 Best Lightweight Rifles for Mountain Hunting
10 Best Lightweight Rifles for Mountain Hunting
When you are looking to buy a mountain hunting rifle, it has to overcome three obstacles with ease.
Number one. It has to be durable enough to weather any storm. Whether it be dust, dirt, snow, rain, or hail, the rifle has to hold up to the elements like the mighty Thor himself.
Number two. It needs to be accurate and powerful enough to drop big games from a distance. This means tight tolerances and perfect barrels are required. This ties in to number three.
It needs to be lightweight. A mountain hunting rifle needs to be so light that you don’t even know you are carrying it on your back. 7 or 8 pounds can quickly turn into 50 if you have been hiking through treacherous terrain for hours. The rifle needs to be light enough that you can still aim when you eventually come across your prey. It also needs to be able to handle recoil, so if it’s too light, expect some sway and a greater snap from recoil.
The guns in this video have been selected because they gracefully overcome these obstacles, and some exceed these expectations.

#hunting #308 #huntingrifles mountain rifle, best mountain rifle, lightweight hunting rifle, best lightweight hunting rifle, ultra lightweight rifles, lightest hunting rifle, lightweight rifle, lightweight 308 rifle, lightweight hunting rifle, light weight hunting rifle, lightweight precision rifle
Ruger American 30.06 for only $350. .75 MOA all day long!!!!!!!!!
Nice👍👍👍👍👍
Best $ wise is the Tikka.
European rifles are compare whit a 5 michelin star restaurant, and american rifles are Mc Donalds
🙋 🙋
"The trigger is pretty crisp for a bolt action"
Why you are not speaking about european rifles, are more superior 🤨
12 gauge slug gun , by far the best
Winchester xpr at #2? 👎
CLICKBAIT LOW BUDGET
I have the earlier X-Bolt Pro with straight barrel fluting and fluted bolt. Metal and stock are bronze Cerakoted and matching Talely scope rings.
BUT… I love the WEATHERBY Backcountry in 5.6 RPM. That rifle withers TENSIONED carbon fiber barrel and ti action is THE best factory mountain rifle I’ve yet seen.
Why are you talking about rifles but showing shotguns in some scenes??
Why would anyone pay 1500 for a savage???
Fluted bolts rattle. Not good.
Try again, … when you know what you’re talking about.
Why do you show shotguns speaking about rifles?
You showed clips of shotguns several times. Do you actually know what a rifle is?
Awesome video
“Kerrakota”?
What’s the deal with the channel? Is it just a person reading the script that knows nothing about guns or is it computer generated? Too many mispronunciations to be completely legit.
If you can’t pronounce the name, educate yourself before talking
Do you just mispronounce things and say dumb shit on purpose
Why does Sig always have problems with their firearms when released😒 Great subject and video, thanks!
Bagara B14 wilderness is my #2, the Ruger American predator would be in my top 10 because of the price. These are all great rifles though.
How did you miss the HOWA Carbon? The mini action starts around 4 pounds!
Great Video Madman. I’m pretty sure Barrett discontinued Field craft bolt action in 2019, It’s going to be picked up again by someone else, I believe
You left out probably the best mass produced rifle on the market today. Seekins precision PH2
Steyr scout?
That was a horrible Bear shot, boo hiss
Why so much footage of people with shotguns?
Nothing but a 13 minute advertisement…
What the fuck is it with sig and the trigger?
Carried alot and shot little, the life of a lightweight.
10 seconds into this video and I’m done.
I one cannot carry a 9 lb rifle around how are they going to carry out a moose or elk?
Tiika would be my choice and than savage. Sig seems to have problems in cold conditions. Very disappointing
You had me at 4 lbs I’d love to lose 8 lbs of rifle thanks for the vid
You finally realized its the mark 5 not V,BerGARa not gare-a and like 3 others that I’m trying to forget, because jesus, not only can’t you say it right you flip flop on saying things, incorrectly
howa
I have 20,000 rds of match grade 6.5 Creed more if anyone is interested
I don’t get it. The video is about rifles and the introduction shows more shotguns than rifles. What’s with that?
I want one. How can i purchase?
My Tikka T3 in 30 06 is a nice rifle for stalking. I seriously dont notice the recoil in the field. Shooting on the bench is different, I do notice the recoil but its manageable.
Awesome video, Bergara and Browning are excellent choices, but if you don’t want to spend that much, Tikka T3 light and a budget rifle the Savage Axis 2 or the XP or also excellent choices
Add $500 to the price of each of these rifles. None of the rifles come with sights so optics have to be purchased or sights installed. Without some sort of sighting system the rifles aren’t very accurate.
As the owner of a ruger m77 paddle boat in 30-06 I can confirm that the kick ruins your shoulders and ability to drag any deer you shot. Provided that you can actually hit with a light gun.
How did the Seekins Havak Element not make this list?👀
What about Sako which has 2 rifles fits the bill and Proof Research??
hahaha ooga booga,,a pistol grip and adjustable folding stock with a removable bipod….I hear it will kill 60 deer a second from its detachable clip- a-zine with one trigger pull,,,,hahahaha
Great video, learned about a lot of rifles that I did not realise were built in lightweight configuration, but… why no mention of the rifle that started the whole carbon revolution? The Sako Carbonlite?
