Small Game Hunting Gear

Small Game Hunting Gear

Here’s a look at what I carry when I’m out small game hunting. Not all of the items in this video will work for everyone but the intent is to see what other folks carry when their out in the woods.

  3. Steelhead Ranger on January 27, 2023 at 4:42 am

Good article though a lot of it I know from military training. As long-time wing-shooter and medium bore bolt-gun hunter, I started looking at air rifles due to my waterfowl hunting partner becoming addicted to collecting them and I mean Steyr and Daystate rifles costing nearly as much as my Beretta O&U shotguns. I am staying away from maintenance queen PCPs for spring guns. An HW97K is in my future.

  4. Andrew Tilton on January 27, 2023 at 4:43 am

Do u think I can use a air compresser

  12. Gari11c on January 27, 2023 at 4:53 am

Im stuck with my 177 beacuse in my country you need to be 18 for a 22 but need 16 for 177

  13. Bob Walkabout on January 27, 2023 at 4:54 am

I pack a mosquito net to cover the head, toilet paper, a small folding hand shovel to dig a pit and a small flashlight. If I have room in my pack, I’ll bring a small ground cover (tarp). I also have several types of fire starters: matches, Bic lighter, flint/starter kit and magnifying glass. Optionally, if I still have room, I’ll put in a small pan, in case I need to boil water in an emergency. I usually have enough emergency items to stay out overnight, if I have to.

If you are hunting for things smaller than a red fox get the " gamo varmit" air rifle . It’s around $120 msrp and has a velocity of 1250 fps and comes with a scope.

  15. Blake Romjue on January 27, 2023 at 4:55 am

all i need is a gun and camo and ammo.

  16. whiff1962 on January 27, 2023 at 4:57 am

Depending on how long one plans on staying in the wooded forest, and the season, I’d say that camo gear is a must, and in the Summer, insect repellent of some kind, preferably sweat proof. As for those expensive range finders, well, a bit much to spend for most, but not a too bad piece of kit, but I have come to estimate range quite well, without.

  17. Dark Wolf on January 27, 2023 at 4:59 am

    Are coyotes small game

  18. Kaden on January 27, 2023 at 4:59 am

That could even kill a turkey lots of people under estimate the power of air guns and small rifle calibers. Just under stand that a head shot with that pellet rifle or a small rifle caliber will put them down. You it coyote in the head with even a .177 he would die ive seen it so trust.

I’m just starting out. Can you give me some pointer’s what do use for riffle and gear. Please get back to me when you get this. Great video. Keep them coming. Thank You Bro.

  20. Shane Keat on January 27, 2023 at 5:03 am

Hey mate im an anything im allowed to kill with kinda bloke sometimes its air rifle sometimes its rime fire sometimes its a centre fire. The only thing extra I take is tampons……… odd right, but hear me out, the first aid kit is good but what we got taught in the new zealand service is the best thing to plug a bullet hole is a tampon is also good for and puncher wound. The other thing I carry is a small tarp our rabbits are safe to eat so we use the tarp so we can dress an animal in the field and it doesn’t get dirt on it. Ive got the same range finder too by the way lol.

  21. Matt Brown on January 27, 2023 at 5:05 am

crosman optimus .177, 1200 fps which with 11 grain pellets gives you 30 foot pounds which is enough to kill someone if you hit them in a vital area, you can get it off pyramid air forr 109 dollars

  22. Mr. the boi Is cool on January 27, 2023 at 5:05 am

I want to get back to shooting again. I own an mussel loader. It’s a Hunter Bolt Magnum .45 cal with a 1:28 twist. I hope you can help me. What kind of ammo would be better to use. Please get back to me when you get this. Great video. Keep them coming.

What is the name of the scope and where can i find it?
Is it one of these because they look very similar but if you look on the windage adjustment they have different logos?

What kind of G-Shock do you wear? I like to wear my GW-9400-3CR. This is great Casio to use when out door’s.

  28. James Moreau on January 27, 2023 at 5:13 am

Great list! I’m a pretty new airgun enthusiast and this is great food for thought on what I should invest in.

  29. Korbin Hounam on January 27, 2023 at 5:15 am

Why buy an air rifle is my question? You can buy a .22 with a magazine for the same price and it has way more benefits than some air rifle

  30. Hardy Chen on January 27, 2023 at 5:17 am

nice intro, great job. I also live in So Cal, but I can not find a safe place for just air rifle small gaming, so if you don’t mind, can you share your fun places?

  31. moeg619 on January 27, 2023 at 5:21 am

  37. Howard Rewald on January 27, 2023 at 5:27 am

Why don’t you refer to it as a rifle. It seems they use weapons to kill people

  38. Jordan Prince on January 27, 2023 at 5:29 am

    Nice video.

  39. moeg619 on January 27, 2023 at 5:30 am

Looking to hunt rabbits soon in San Diego. Any recommendations? Have you checked out hollenbeck canyon?

  40. Frank ! on January 27, 2023 at 5:32 am

I have a Gamo Hornet Maxxim.22 (Leapers UTG 3-9×40 scope) that I hunt squirrel with and its about $200 cheaper than what you are using not to mention the cost of the pump (if it doesn’t come with one) or tank to fill it? I use the H&N crow magnums or Baracuda hunters, both hollow points and 18.21 gr. All you need other than that is some latex dressing gloves, a hunting knife, a cold beer, a grill and some Sweet baby Rays BBQ Sause !

I’m a air gunner to and shoot guns but my air rifle is the Crossman Optimus.

  42. George Ford on January 27, 2023 at 5:33 am

thank you, great video, looking to get into small game hunting via air guns and was very interested in what I should bring into the field.

  43. Art Smith on January 27, 2023 at 5:33 am

The ballistic drop for that little pellet is almost the exact same as for a high velocity .22LR

  44. Quinton Bailey on January 27, 2023 at 5:34 am

If any body is feeling upset on there pellet gun because they think that it is not powerful enough to kill small game. Don’t be upset because I have killed a crow before with a spring airsoft gun that was 350 fps. I now have a grizzly scout air rifle with a 4×20 scope. Best combo for small game hunting. Get the gun real wood and metal for 45 bucks at princess auto and get the scope on eBay for 10 bucks. By the way great combo and great video. Keep it up and eat what u kill!!!!!!

  45. Jayce Moto on January 27, 2023 at 5:35 am
