Trophy hunting is not just an African phenomenon. It is a pan global phenomenon. Ditto poaching. All endangered species are ultimately doomed. Accept this fact.

  2. Memento Mori on January 27, 2023 at 4:32 am

People are ranting in the comments that it’s still bad because you kill animals, so let me ask you one question, do you eat meat?
I think that death of a few animals to let others live isn’t as bad as suffering and death of thousands(and yes, I do eat meat, if there will be a good alternative available I might change it in the future)

  3. makemwunder on January 27, 2023 at 4:32 am

You can tell this is written by leftists. They portray hunters as idiots that can’t even handle a firearm. Soyboys just can’t help themselves.

  4. Bham67 on January 27, 2023 at 4:35 am

You can hike, mountain bike, birdwatch, etc., in US National Forests for free…but you can’t hunt and fish for free. Hunting and fishing licenses fees are what fund state conservation efforts. It pays for protected land that animals need to thrive and the management of that land and the game wardens, etc. Even if you are against hunting, one of the best ways to support land & wildlife conservation is to buy an annual hunting and fishing license….even if you don’t use it.

So basically Namibia just reinvented Livestock? I mean it’s not much different from what happens in other parts of the world, raising animals just to kill and eat them, only in this case, the financial incentive is to allow Trophy Hunters to kill them instead.

  6. Joelle on January 27, 2023 at 4:38 am

Imagine getting so upset about rhinos just to go eat a cow

  7. robin devily on January 27, 2023 at 4:40 am

Damn depending on billionaires in America is like having an arsonist be your firemen but in Africa what would we do without the money from these rich hunters. Guess there’s nothing we can do . And by letting these rich trophy hunters kill animals and give us money to do good things poachers just disappear

  8. -Commit-arson- on January 27, 2023 at 4:40 am

He may be a tool, but he is a tool to build a brighter tomorrow

  9. Wynand Lens on January 27, 2023 at 4:40 am

Namibian here. Poaching is the real evil. The Rhino horn trade is the worst thing that is happening to these animals.

  10. Owen Padilla on January 27, 2023 at 4:42 am

also if we lose a bunch of trees, thats fucked up, becuase trees produce oxygen, and they combat against carbon dioxide, so we do need way more trees man, cuase without them more pollution will spread, and we will have no oxygen to breath.

  11. Stanza Plays on January 27, 2023 at 4:43 am

if you ban trophy hunting, that doesn’t solve killing because lets face it. People will do it regardless.

  12. gerkey on January 27, 2023 at 4:47 am

I thought the worst about those people and still I don’t think the best. But I always asked who tf lets them hunt those animals, what kind of a corruption is that? My actual take from this is that how wrong I was to consider the people living there with those animals wouldn’t come up with a remarkable way to solve the real issues. Just wow!

my biggest dream is to shot gun a Chimpanzee and Panda.

  17. Steely McAfeeliac on January 27, 2023 at 4:52 am

Death in the wild is much more disturbing than death by hunting. I’d rather be shot than have my intestines pulled out of my asshole by sharp teeth or a beak while I’m still alive.

  19. TriGN on January 27, 2023 at 4:52 am

  20. Only Science on January 27, 2023 at 4:52 am

Mega land owners throwing bones to the landless locals so they can make more business.

  21. Andrea Padilla on January 27, 2023 at 4:52 am

I learn this because one of my ex bosses is a hunter. Actually a lot of places take a fee for the "Right to hunt" in a certain time. If they don’t hunt anything, then too bad. Pay for extra time or go home.
And everything they shot down in the hunt field has to be pay as extra to have a use of the body (that’s the skin, and some trophy of choice, but not the meat, that cost extra). Also. They only have Right to take lives if they hurt some animal, they have to pay the vet bills. And often this lands are used to protect species in danger.
The meat and organs of the animal and put it to sell to make benefits for when the season is low and grant security for the animals and protect them from hunters and real estate managers.
It’s really contra intuitive and weird. But actually they have a hunter code to respect

  22. caelin on January 27, 2023 at 4:54 am

Okay, alternative point, don’t meddle with animal populations (which includes not hunting in the first place) we have sustainable and ethical farms, men hunt to prove themselves to the masculinity machine. Not for survival.

  23. Sayan Sinha on January 27, 2023 at 4:54 am

why not hunt the poachers? why not shift animals into the savanna or other nations where those species are not present? China traded pandas for multiple things from many countries. having the power to decide is one thing, but how you envision a revenue system can reveal a lot more. Probably in a 100 years, future generations will be building forests to stay alive. VERY NAICE (read like borat)

  24. Stanisław Krzyzaniak The oviraptor on January 27, 2023 at 4:55 am

    It’s not good for animals
It can be good for animal populations but unfortunatly never the individuals

I don’t like the animation segments of these but I still listen through regardless of it. Just to get the information that’s provided.

  26. Dean Kirk on January 27, 2023 at 5:02 am

I used to be blatantly against trophy hunting because of the brainwashing and lack of information because I was told all trophy hunting is bad But after hearing your counter intuitive argument I actually agree with trophy hunting as long as it’s managing regulated by the people that Live with the animals because I don’t want other countries getting involved in trophy hunting in other countries because we all know if trophy hunting is profitable America will get their fingers in it

  27. Sabotage on January 27, 2023 at 5:03 am

5:07 applied to really anything is such a powerful statement

  28. JNguyen on January 27, 2023 at 5:03 am

Trophy hunting is basically part of a Trolley Problem where you direct a car towards the smaller section of animals and let the rest of the population thrive. It’s not optimal, but hopefully there comes a time when African nations have extra income/resources to raise their own militias against poachers and not have to resort to this practice anymore.

  29. Alison Emmert on January 27, 2023 at 5:06 am

I hope we can eventually find another way, but it does make sense unfortunately.

  32. John Cisney on January 27, 2023 at 5:07 am

Teddy Roosevelt, the man responsible for our National Parks and hunting regulations, was an avid hunter. Not only that, but in poorer areas wild game can still make up a significant portion of a family’s diet. In addition because many game animals like deer lack natural predators in the US, hunting is the primary way of regulating the population so entire herds don’t starve.

  33. Alexei Christopher Ian Mattanovich on January 27, 2023 at 5:07 am

I paused the video at the beginning to say this, and we shall see if I change this stance. I am already leaning away from the notion that Nature requires human involvement to balance or regulate itself. And this next part is an extreme view, I’ll admit, but the universe is already as hostile and inhospitable to life as a layer of asphalt laid over a germinating seed, that every life form must push against, overcoming all odds, just to catch a breath of air and experience sunlight, and so often then to be immediately tread down, that if asserting my vision of possibility for the ideal society and environment to live in in radical opposition to these forces constituted nothing more than moral dogma, I would risk the hypocrisy. I do not wish to live amongst the cruel, nor those who tolerate cruelty.

  34. Placeholder 123 on January 27, 2023 at 5:09 am

I think trophy hunting is bad they should use the animals

  35. Albane Mathez on January 27, 2023 at 5:09 am

Well it seem sad but it’s always been this way. Even without trophy in most country hunter are really involve in the protection of forest and wild life.

So basically, if these rich jerks weren’t jerks and just donated the money, conservation could be funded and no animals would need to die to “sanctioned” trophy hunting.

2:48 Does it seriously cost 350 grand to kill a rhino?

  45. Dezecrator on January 27, 2023 at 5:20 am

it took me a moment to process how this makes sense but if you think of it like the trolley problem its a lot easier

  46. Owen Padilla on January 27, 2023 at 5:21 am

im more worried about the earth itself then a few dumb squirrels, but if one animal goes extinct, then another one that has it on its diet goes without food, and eventually that butterfly effect leads to us in some way, like bumblebees pollenate plants, plants need to be pollenated to grow fruit and vegetables, we need to eat vegetables, and also, animals that eat vegetables would go extinct, then we cant eat those animals, and also the creatures that eat those animals will go extinct, so we cant eat that either, then it would just be fucking chaos and ruins.

its funny how right wingers use liberals as an excuse to hate the left, when Liberals are literally the most right wing of the left, cuase they feed off capitalism, they are annoying, they are loud, they usually dont listen to reason, and they still have conservative traits.
